Cost Requirements

Applicants seeking Cypriot citizenship must meet one of the following criteria;

1. Purchase real estate with a minimum value of EUR 350,000 to be held for 5 years; or lease a residential immovable property in Malta for a period of 5 years, at an annual rent of at least EUR 16,000
2. Make a contribution of EUR 650,000 to the National development and Social Fund.
3. Make an investment in stocks or bonds of a minimum value of EUR 150,000 to be held for a period of 5 years.

In addition to the above;
- Applicant must have a clean criminal record
- Applicant must have resided in Malta for a period of 12 months preceding the application

Timeline & Procedure

  • Step 1 : Month 1

    We will guide you to the Maltese property that fully satisfy your requirements and starts preparing property purchase documentation required to be presented for residency application.

  • Step 2 : Month 1

    The applicants must travel to Malta to apply for legal residence and acquire a residency card, as all applicants must be resident in Malta for 12 months preceding the application.

  • Step 3 : Month 2

    The application is submitted and further due diligence will be performed by the Maltese government and on completion a decision will be made to either grant citizenship, decline citizenship or request further documentation from the applicant before making a decision.

  • Step 4 : Month 5-7

    An approval in principal letter will be issued by the government if successful.

  • Step 5 : Month 8

    Payment of national contribution must be finalized within 25 days of approval.

  • Step 6 : Month 12

    Within 4 months is necessary to show a copy of your property contract (lease or purchase), confirmation bonds/stocks acquired, and proof that suitable medical coverage is in place. Property purchase funds and taxes transferred.

  • Step 7 : Month 14-16

    Make an Oath and provide bio-metrics for your passports and on completion you will acquire a Certificate of Naturalization and pickup passports.
